MONDAY’S DIY IDEAS

Happy Monday everyone! I found these 4 pictures and just love the ideas so I thought I would share it with you all.

I have an army jacket I used a lot in London and I made it my own by putting 2 badges on it, along the sleeve. Call it my hippy / rave days but I still love that jacket so much. Above the ♥ elbow patch made me smile, I think its cute. One of my long sleeves should definitely have them.

Below also seen via The Style Files is these gorgeous sliver baskets. They were spray painted silver, giving them life and some ‘lueur’. I think my baskets need a little silver! Perhaps for baby’s room?

The items above are right up my alley. I adore the bone and wood as well as that stunning low back dress! So beautiful. The ceramics and arm-chair are unique and fun, I love it. You can buy or make your own ceramic plates and paint them yourself. It makes a beautiful gift for a lost any age. I can’t remember where I got this picture from, I saved it without the proper link and now I can’t find the source-sorry about that.

Below, a common thing to have a black board painted on a wall somewhere in your house. We have a little long panel of wood painted in our kitchen. What I love about this space is the size of the chalk board and the layout of the inspiring room with gorgeous white painted wooden floors. Photo via From Scandinavia with Love.

3 BY FRYD – DONT MISS OUT

Morning all. I have mentioned Jeanette Lunde from FRYD & DESIGN a few times here on Creative Stream. The reason for that is because she is a super talented woman!

3 BY FRYD is now out and packed with the most inspirational pages I have seen in ages. I love Jeannette’s style and her taste. I admire her way of thinking and her attitude to life and family.

Read it.

Jeanette is also co-teaching the Decor8 e-course. I cannot think of a better team than that and will be very sad to be missing the course.

Enjoy~!

Monday’s TOP 12

Happy Monday everyone! Here are my 12 top items from Ruche new arrivals. Beautiful beautiful.

Cool Japan

Sometimes I come across the most beautiful Japanese items. I have always had a soft spot for their art and creativity. Like their very own tetsubin tea pots and their wooden stamps and woodblock prints. I love Japanese flowers. Even their bonsai’s are delicately and patiently crafted and pruned. It makes me think that the nation have a strong sense of patience and control when it comes to art and creating. I found these prints from the World Gallery.

By Maxi Posters and Ando Hiroshige.

First photos from Maxi Posters and Ando Hiroshige. The interior of  room above oozes peace and calm, created by the low bed and wall decor. Photo fromArchitectHouseDesigns. Picture above Japanese Streets.

Shizen Creations  Dont you just love this bath? Japanese wood strong bathtub said to be used indoor and out. I love the solid look with the dark red and black colours. Below is a Japanese wood chest. Both photographs seen via BathroomDesignsIdea.

Japanese wood block prints seen below, seen via Baxley Stamps.

KIDDIE SPACES THAT ROCK

I am really enjoying looking at various tastes for kiddies bedrooms. Some are quite wild, some mature, others are serene or neutral – all of which are inspiring and beautiful.

I like looking at any room, not just kids spaces, that show they are lived in. Because let’s be honest-not every home is perfect all the time! I mentioned my feelings on this matter a while back. So here are some funky rooms I found via Skona Hem.

And then here is a corner that caught my eye.

KIRSTEN GOSS

I am loving the geo-grafik range by Kirsten Goss! The Lifesaver necklaces are gorgeous and allow you to mix up different pendants and colours to match your day’s wear. Love it!

Isn’t Kirsten and the team just amazing? Be sure to check out her website here and if you have not read and subscribed to the Kirsten Goss blog yet-DO IT.

BABY BABY

Hello everyone. It’s great to be back … It seems for the last 3 months I’ve been hibernating. Well I have kept myself quiet but trying not too at the same time – if that makes any sense.

We are expecting our 1st child and in between 3 attempted burglaries of which 2 were succesful and then renovating our 1st property and my mom dislocating her hip twice, I have been nauseous and cranky and tired -  all due to a little bundle of joy growing in my tummy! We have crossed the 12 week hurdle and baby is all well and healthy boxing like a champion in my tummy. Too cute for words.

So I feel a lot more “normal”. Thank goodness! There truly is nothing like the fatigue you feel when growing a baby from cells into a human.

We are not sure what sex this bundle of joy is yet. We not sure if we want to find out. Any advice? And now that we have passed the 1st trimester, I’ve looked into baby rooms and ideas. I’m a lover of neutral with dashes of colour either by toys or books but a general palette of perhaps white, browns and maybe grey. I might change my mind when in the ‘nesting phase’ but none the less I saw these two beautiful pictures from Chic&cheap Nursery and fell in love! What do you think??

BABY SHOWER INSPIRATION

A friend of mine is having a baby shower soon which brought me to surfing the net and finding some inspiration that is cost effective but special and warm. I came across some of these images and even though I have an idea of what to do, it’s getting all those little bits of details in together. Its easier knowing the sex or the name of the baby but if those details are unknown, a neutral palette is always a winner with dashes of colour.

Either way, the focus is on mom and baby and the friendships & family that surround her and not SO much the decor. What the decorations bring is a fun and uplifting environment that makes it a party and not just a gathering. So don’t be stressed out about it – have fun with it!

GET GIRLY

Hello all. Here in South Africa we have just had a long weekend of public holidays. Funny how I still dont feel rested…

I’m not much of a girlie girl. I’m not a tomboy either, just a pleasant in-between I think. I do though love a bit of feminine beauty that catches my eye and paging through Rue I found just that! I wanted to share it with you.

In one of the houses I lived in, in London I had beautiful vintage dress in my bedroom hanging up as decor. Not my idea but the beautiful women I lived with and worked for had such amazing style, when I see pictures like these … I always think of her.

COLOUR SERIES

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks colour series. We looking at blue used with a neutral brown, enhancing black and then with white of course. It is only recently that I have decided to use blue in my home. You see I live right on the beach and I’m afraid that by having blue in the home, I would get that beach vibe going inside my home and I’m rather a rustic kind of girl ;) But … I have swayed towards blue more and more as it does not always have to end up looking kitch -sailer. Cool-sailer is another story. This is where I would need the expertise of Che’ Hooper.

Blue – is calming. It can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly. Almost everyone likes some shade of the color blue.

Blue – Royal blue is another was of saying deeper blue.

Images with single items in are from Alder & Co. and can bought here.

The examples of decor are from Bodie & Fou, Rue and Alvhem.
